ARE YOU A BROWS VIRGIN?

So finally you have decided you want to do something about your brows. You want those perfect looking brows. I get the excitement, butterflies, and doubts when you come for your first ever brows appointment. Most importantly, you have loads of questions! So here I am answering the most commonly asked questions asked by my first timers!

Will it hurt?

After trying the treatment, most of my clients have said, “Oh, it wasn’t as bad as I thought”! I wouldn’t say it is excruciatingly painful. It is just because it is your first time getting your brows waxed or threaded & it may feel a bit strange or more like a gentle plucking pain. Some people even find it relaxing.

I don’t know what colour & shape to go for? I don’t want it to look silly! I don’t want black brows!

You should always have a consultation with your brows stylist if you are getting your brows done for the first time to discuss your expectations and what results can be achieved. I personally prefer going with natural flow of my client’s brows and always start with a light or more natural colour which you can always build up.

Threading looks painful, and I don’t know if I should have waxing or threading?

It is a common myth that threading is very painful. Threading is the most gentle form of hair removal, suitable for even the most sensitive skin. For some people it is not painful at all! If it is your first time you may feel a little weird as it is a new thing. Some of my clients find it relaxing.

Is there any aftercare?

Yes. After waxing, threading, or tinting treatments on brows, avoid getting your brows wet for 24 hours, especially Henna Brows because the Henna is still developing for next few hours. Water will stop the progress. Avoid getting into hot showers and baths, chlorine, sun, sunbeds etc. This is because your treated skin is tender and needs a chance to calm down. Exposure to heat may aggravate post waxing rashes. If you do experience after wax rashes, there is no need to worry; this is completely normal. A cold compress or aloe vera gel works like magic. If you see any scabs or skin flakes these should disappear within a day or two. If you have any concerns you should get in touch with your Brow Stylist for further advise.

I am 11 years old, can I get my brows done?

The simple answer is no. This is because your skin is so tender at this age and your face & brows are changing constantly. If you remove hair at this early stage there is a possibility this hair may not grow back. I will cover more about brow treatments for under 16’s in my next blog. Until then, keep shining!

Lots of love,

Shivan xx
